The realization that mind and body cannot be separated changed everything!

The Body & Wisdom Story

Physiotherapists are trained to assess physical tissue, diagnose problems, and then develop treatment plans to resolve them.  It wasn't long into my career that I found myself discouraged in the face of chronic symptoms that did not respond to treatment and even questioned whether or not I wanted to continue.  I remember thinking: "What am I doing wrong?".  Interestingly, I found out many patients suffering from chronic pain felt, they too, must be doing something wrong if they were not getting better.

My search for answers led me to discover the field of Pain Science.  The problem was never me or my patients but the missing knowledge we now have about how chronic pain works.  I was surprised to find that there was so much information available to explain the un-fixable pain my patients felt. Suddenly, I had a new option for patients feeling unheard, dismissed, and demoralized.  Every year, I took more and more courses, always hungry to learn more and to figure out how to integrate mind and body,

Finally, I completed my Master's in Counselling Psychology with a mission in mind.  Whether uncovering the emotional wounds that lead to physical expressions of pain in the body or unravelling the emotional consequence of injury, loss, and disease, blending mind and body approaches is long overdue.  Applying what I know about the body, injuries, recovery, and pain to a model of care that is trauma informed and inclusive of the entire personal experience is my goal.

Despite what you may have lived, the injuries you have experienced, or the trauma you have survived, the Body & Wisdom approach aims to help you live your best life.
